## Abstract

Oral care compositions comprising: (a) a peroxide complex comprising a peroxide component and an N-vinyl heterocyclic polymer (e.g., poly-N-vinyl polylactam, or poly-N-vinyl-polyimide); (b) a whitening agent (e.g., hydrogen peroxide); and (c) an orally acceptable carrier. In one embodiment, the carrier comprises a film forming material. Methods are also provided for making an oral care composition comprising: (a) mixing a whitening agent, silicone adhesive and carrier fluid to form a homogenous mixture; (b) adding a peroxide complex to said homogenous mixture, wherein said complex comprises hydrogen peroxide and an N-vinyl heterocyclic polymer; and (c) mixing under vacuum.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An oral care composition comprising:
(a) a peroxide complex comprising a peroxide component and an N-vinyl heterocyclic polymer;
(b) a whitening agent;
(c) an orally acceptable carrier;
wherein the peroxide complex comprises a cross-linked polyvinyl pyrrolidone-peroxide complex wherein the whitening agent comprises hydrogen peroxide, and wherein said carrier comprises a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide;
wherein the composition further comprises tetrasodium pyrophosphate and calcium pyrophosphate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, further comprising polyethylene glycol.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein the peroxide complex is present at a level of 0.5% to 40%.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein the peroxide complex is present at a level of 20% to 30%.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein the peroxide complex comprises a peroxide component at a level of 1% to 25%.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein the peroxide complex comprises a peroxide component at a level of 5% to 18%.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of the peroxide component to the cross-linked polyvinyl pyrrolidone is about 1:1.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2, wherein the polyethylene glycol is selected from PEG-200, PEG-300, PEG-400, PEG-600 and PEG-2000.

### Claim 9 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2, wherein the polyethylene glycol comprises PEG-600.
