## Abstract

An apparatus for storing and dispensing a medication, including: a cartridge including a cavity for storing a first orally-administered or injectable medication for a patient; and a module, including a specially-programmed computer. The specially-programmed computer: attached to the cartridge, and arranged to: automatically generate or modify a medication regimen, including designation of a measure for the first orally-administered or injectable medication, for the patient by using information regarding a second medication, different from the first medication, prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for the patient; and transmit instructions to a medication device to extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from the cartridge and non-intravenously dispense, into a container, an amount of the first orally-administered or injectable medication equal to the designated measure or the modified designated measure.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An apparatus for storing and dispensing a medication, comprising:
a cartridge including a cavity for storing a first orally-administered or injectable medication for a patient; and,
a module, including a specially-programmed computer, the specially-programmed computer:
attached to the cartridge; and,
arranged to:
automatically generate or modify a medication regimen, including designation of a measure for the first orally-administered or injectable medication, for the patient by using:
information regarding a second medication, different from the first medication, prescribed for the patient; or,
real time physiological data for the patient; and,
transmit instructions to a medication device to:
extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from the cartridge; and,
non-intravenously dispense, into a container, an amount of the first orally-administered or injectable medication equal to:
the designated measure; or,
the modified designated measure.

### Claim 2

An apparatus for storing and dispensing a medication, comprising:
a cartridge including a cavity for storing an orally-administered or injectable medication for a patient; and,
a module, including a specially-programmed computer, the specially-programmed computer:
attached to the cartridge; and,
arranged to:
modify:
a dosage for the orally-administered or injectable medication; and,
a constraint related to administration of the dosage; and,
transmit instructions to a medication device to:
extract the orally-administered or injectable medication from the cartridge; and,
non-intravenously dispense, into a container, an amount of the orally-administered or injectable medication equal to the modified dosage, wherein the constraint is selected from the group consisting of considerations of food or drink previously consumed by the patient, considerations of food or drink to be consumed by the patient following administration of the first orally-administrable or injectable medication, and a time at which the second medication was last taken or will next be taken.

### Claim 3

An apparatus for storing and dispensing a medication, comprising:
a cartridge including a cavity for storing a first orally-administered or injectable medication for a patient; and,
a module, including a specially-programmed computer, the specially-programmed computer:
attached to the cartridge; and,
arranged to:
calculate or modify, a dosage for the first orally-administered or injectable medication and a constraint related to administration of the dosage by using a specific point in time at which a previous dosage of the first orally-administered or injectable medication was administered, information regarding a second medication, different from the first medication, prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for the patient; and,
transmit instructions to a medication device to:
extract the orally-administered or injectable medication from the cartridge; and,
non-intravenously dispense, into a container, an amount of the first orally-administered or injectable medication equal to:
the designated measure; or,
the modified designated measure, wherein the specific point in time is not a time span between second and third specific points in time.
