Abstract
An implant includes a central portion composed of at least one yarn interconnected to form openings therein and a peripheral portion extending around the central portion. The peripheral portion includes at least one high strength yarn.

An implant comprising:
- a central portion composed of at least two yarns including at least one primary yarn and at least one high strength yarn interconnected to form openings therein;
- and
- a peripheral portion extending around the central portion, the peripheral portion formed solely from at least one high strength yarn interconnected to form openings therein.
