Preform container having a coiled handle attached at two attachment points

A preform for a container, comprising:

• an expandable main body having an interior cavity;
• a neck portion disposed at an upper portion of the main body;
• and
• a handle attached to the main body at two separate attachment points on an exterior wall of the main body,
• wherein the handle is coiled,
• wherein the main body and the handle are integrally formed,
• wherein the handle comprises a first portion extending substantially in parallel with a longitudinal direction of the main body,
• wherein a distance between the two attachment points on the main body is less than a length of the first portion,
• wherein the handle comprises a second portion extending substantially in parallel with the first portion,
• wherein the handle is configured to uncoil when a stretch rod is inserted into the interior cavity of the main body,
• wherein the handle comprises a U-shaped portion that connects the first portion and the second portion,
• wherein the neck portion is threaded,
• wherein the main body and the handle are configured to be disposed inside a blow mold, and the neck portion is configured to be secured outside the blow mold,
• wherein the main body and the handle are configured such that, when the stretch rod is inserted into the interior cavity of the main body, a distance between the two attachment points becomes equal to that of a blown container,
• wherein the handle is configured such that, after the stretch rod stretches the main body, the handle is trapped in a movable handle pocket of the blow mold,
• wherein the handle is configured such that the movable handle pocket is movable between an initial position and a final position during the blowing process,
• wherein the interior cavity has a constant diameter except for a distal end thereof,
• wherein the first portion and the second portion extend downward from the two attachment points, and
• wherein the preform is formed from thermoplastic.
