Abstract
The light fixture includes a frame, a substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel disposed within the frame, power circuitry disposed within at least one of a number of channels within the frame, and a central wire-way. The frame includes a bottom assembly and a top assembly coupled to the bottom assembly. The bottom assembly and the top assembly cooperate to form the channels within the frame. The bottom assembly has a back surface. The power circuitry is configured to electrically couple the substantially flat LED panel to an external AC power supply. The central wire-way is disposed adjacent the back surface of the bottom assembly and configured to route wiring to or from the power circuitry disposed within at least one of the channels within the frame.
Claims20
A light fixture comprising:
- a frame having a plurality of edges, wherein the frame is formed with a channel within the frame at one of the plurality of edges of the frame, and wherein the frame includes a first set of slots at a first outer edge of a back surface of the frame and a second set of slots at a second outer edge of the back surface of the frame opposite to the first outer edge;
- a substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel disposed within the frame;
- an LED driver disposed within the channel within the frame at the one of the plurality of edges of the frame, the LED driver being configured to electrically couple the substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel to an external power supply;
- and
- a mounting plate including a plurality of engagement members at opposite edges of the mounting plate configured to engage the frame at the first set of slots and the second set of slots through a slide-lock mechanism, wherein mounting plate is configured to be secured to a mounting surface, and wherein the mounting plate includes a central aperture that provides a wiring entry point for wiring that electrically couples the external power supply to the LED driver disposed within the channel within the frame at the one of the plurality of edges of the frame.
A light fixture comprising:
- a frame formed with a plurality of channels within the frame at first and second edges of the frame;
- a substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel disposed within the frame, wherein the substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel comprises an LED strip and an optically-transmissive panel for distribution of light received at an edge of the optically-transmissive panel from the LED strip, the LED strip comprising a plurality of LEDs disposed adjacent the optically-transmissive panel at the first edge of the frame;
- an LED driver disposed within at least one of the plurality of channels within the frame at the second edge of the frame, the LED driver electrically coupled to an external AC power supply via AC input wiring and electrically coupled to the LED strip of the substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel via DC-out wires;
- and
- a mounting plate configured to releasably engage the frame at a back surface of the frame and configured to be secured to a mounting surface, wherein the mounting plate includes a central aperture that provides a wiring entry point for the AC input wiring that electrically couples the external AC power supply to the LED driver, wherein the central aperture of the mounting plate is configured to abut against an exterior junction box.
A light fixture comprising:
- a frame having a plurality of edges, wherein the frame includes a first set of slots at a first outer edge of a back surface of the frame and a second set of slots at a second outer edge of the back surface of the frame opposite to the first outer edge;
- a substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel disposed within the frame, wherein the substantially flat light emitting diode (LED) panel includes an LED strip and an optically-transmissive panel for distribution of light received at an edge of the optically-transmissive panel from the LED strip, the LED strip comprising a plurality of LEDs disposed adjacent the optically-transmissive panel;
- an LED driver configured to electrically couple the LED strip to an external AC power supply via AC input wiring, wherein the LED driver comprises a transformer;
- and
- a mounting plate including a plurality of J-hooks at opposite edges of the mounting plate configured to engage the frame at the first set of slots and the second set of slots through a slide-lock mechanism, wherein the mounting plate is configured to be secured to a mounting surface, and wherein the mounting plate includes a central aperture that is configured to abut against an exterior junction box.
