## Abstract

Described herein are laundry detergent compositions comprising fermented fruit solutions and natural based surfactants, methods for making the same, and methods for using the same. The fermented fruit solutions can contain fruit, sugar and water. The natural based surfactant can be selected from the group consisting of sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, alkyl polyglycoside, and mixtures thereof. The laundry detergent compositions can be used to clean articles, launder articles, and clean stains from articles.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A laundry detergent composition comprising:
(a) a fermented fruit solution wherein the total acid content of the fermented fruit solution is greater than or equal to 3.0%, the fermented fruit solution prepared by fermenting a pre-fermented fruit solution with lactic acid bacteria, wherein the pre-fermented fruit solution comprises:
(i) about 2 to about 20 weight percent of a sugar based on the total weight of the pre-fermented fruit solution,
(ii) about 20 to about 50 weight percent of a fruit puree based on the total weight of the pre-fermented fruit solution, wherein the fruit is more than 90% pineapple,
(iii) about 30 to about 75 weight percent of a water based on the total weight of the pre-fermented fruit solution,
wherein a brix level of the pre-fermented fruit solution is about 12% to about 24%, and
(b) at least one of sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, and alkyl polyglycoside.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one of sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, and alkyl polyglycoside is present in an amount of about 1 to about 23 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 2, wherein the composition comprises sodium lauryl sulfate.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 3, wherein sodium lauryl sulfate is present in an amount of about 5 to about 15 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 4, wherein sodium lauryl sulfate is present in an amount of about 8 to about 15 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 1 further comprising:
at least one builder.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 6 further comprising:
at least one thickener;
at least one solvent, wherein the solvent is not water;
at least one anti-foam agent; and
at least one emulsifier.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7 further comprising:
at least one corrosion inhibitor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 6, wherein the at least one builder is selected from the group consisting of sodium citrate, boric acid and mixtures thereof.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 6, wherein the at least one builder is present in an amount of about 3 to about 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 9, wherein the at least one builder is a mixture of sodium citrate and boric acid.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 11, wherein sodium citrate is present in an amount of about 0.5 to about 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition, and boric acid is present in an amount of about 0.5 to about 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 12, wherein sodium citrate is present in an amount of about 1 to about 6 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition, and boric acid is present in an amount of about 2 to about 5 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 14 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the at least one thickener is present in an amount of about 0.1 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 15 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the thickener is selected from the group consisting of sodium chloride, natural gums, selected from the group consisting of guar gum, xanthan gum and gum arabic, and mixtures thereof.

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the at least one emulsifier is present in an amount of about 0.1 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 17 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the emulsifier is glycerol.

### Claim 18 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the at least one solvent is present in an amount of about 0.3 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 19 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the at least one solvent is ethanol.

### Claim 20 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the at least one anti-foam agent is present, in addition to any amount of anti-foam agent present in the fermented fluid solution, in an amount of about 0.3 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 21 (depends on 7)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 7, wherein the anti-foam agent is selected from the group consisting of oleic acid, lactic acid and mixtures thereof.

### Claim 22 (depends on 8)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 8, wherein the at least one corrosion inhibitor is present in an amount of about 0.1 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 23 (depends on 8)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 8, wherein the corrosion inhibitor is sodium polyaspartate.

### Claim 24 (depends on 1)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 1 further comprising:
at least one pH adjusting agent.

### Claim 25 (depends on 24)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 24, wherein at least one pH adjusting agent is present in an amount of about 0.01 to about 2 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

### Claim 26 (depends on 24)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 24, wherein the at least one pH adjusting agent is selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and mixtures thereof.

### Claim 27 (depends on 1)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 1 further comprising:
a preservative.

### Claim 28 (depends on 27)

The laundry detergent composition of claim 27, wherein the preservative is selected from the group consisting of potassium sorbate, nisin, natamycin and mixtures thereof.

The laundry detergent composition of claim 28, wherein the preservative is present in an amount not greater than about 1 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.
