## Abstract

A tinted float glass includes a base glass portion comprising: SiO2 68-75 wt % Al2O3 0-3 wt % Na2O 11-15 wt % K2O 0-3 wt % CaO 6-11 wt % MgO 2-6 wt % and a colorant portion comprising iron, cobalt and selenium in the following ranges: Fe2O3 0.30-0.40 wt % Co3O4 46-60 ppm Se 1-5 ppm The tinted float glass is blue-grey in transmitted color, and is suitable for architectural, automotive, and other applications. A particularly preferred embodiment of the glass has a colorant portion comprising 0.31-0.33% Fe2O3, 51-55 ppm Co3O4 and 2-4 ppm selenium, together with a light transmission (Ill D65) of 59 to 62%, a dominant wavelength of 482 nm, a color purity of 7 to 8%, and a performance of 3 to 7%; all in a sample 6.0 mm thick. The glass may be coated with a low emissivity coating.

### Claim 1

A tinted float glass haying a blue-grey colour, said tinted float glass comprising:
a base glass portion comprising:
SiO2
68-75 wt %
Al2O3
0-3 wt %
Na2O
11-15 wt %
K2O
0-3 wt %
CaO
6-11 wt %
MgO
2-6 wt %
and a colourant portion comprising:
Fe2O3
0.30-0.35
wt %
Co3O4
48-56
ppm
Se
1-4
ppm
wherein the tinted float glass has a dominant wavelength of 481 to 484 nm and a colour purity (III D65) of 6.0 to 10.0% at a thickness of 6.0 mm.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 1 having a colour purity (III D65) of 7.0 to 8.0%.

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 1 having a performance (defined as light transmission (III A) minus direct solar heat transmission (ISO9050) at a thickness of 6.0 mm) of 1 to 20%.

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 4 having a performance of 2 to 10%.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 5 having a performance of 3.0 to 7.0%.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 1 having an L* value of 80 to 84, an a* value of −4 to −2, and a b* value of −9 to −5, in terms of the CIELAB colour space.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 7 having an L* value of 81 to 83, an a* value of −3 to −2, and a b* value of −7 to −6.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

A tinted float glass as claimed in claim 1 provided with a low emissivity coating having a total hemispherical emissivity of less than 0.25.

A tinted float glass having a blue-grey colour, said tinted float glass comprising:

wherein the tinted float glass composition has a light transmission (III D65) of 59.0 to 62.0%, a dominant wavelength of 482 nm, a colour purity of 7.0 to 8.0% and a performance (defined as light transmission (III A) minus direct solar heat transmission (ISO9050)) of 3.0 to 7.0%; all in a sample 6.0 mm thick.
