Abstract
An ad-hoc communication radio module is provided, which may include at least one of an ad-hoc communication reception circuit; and an ad-hoc communication transmission circuit; and an ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface for the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control of the ad-hoc communication reception circuit or of the ad-hoc communication transmission circuit.
Claims25
An ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus, comprising:
- an ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface to receive a command, from an application external to an ad-hoc communication protocol stack of the ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus, wherein the ad-hoc communication protocol stack includes an application layer and the application runs outside of the application layer;
- a first radio module coupled with the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface, the first radio module including a first ad-hoc communication reception circuit or a first ad-hoc communication transmission circuit;
- and
- a second radio module coupled with the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface, the second radio module comprising:
- a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer;
- and
- a Physical Layer (PHY) including a second communication reception circuit or a second communication transmission circuit, wherein the first radio module and the second radio module are selectively controlled in accordance with the received command, and wherein the command specifies that a particular logical channel should be set up, transferred to a different physical link, or cleared.
An ad-hoc communication device, comprising:
- an ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus comprising:
- an ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface to receive a command, from an application external to an ad-hoc communication protocol stack of the ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus, wherein the ad-hoc communication protocol stack includes an application layer and the application runs outside of the application layer;
- a first radio module coupled with the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface, the first radio module including a first ad-hoc communication reception circuit or a first ad-hoc communication transmission circuit;
- and
- a second radio module coupled with the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface, the second radio module comprising:
- a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer;
- and
- a Physical Layer (PHY) including a second communication reception circuit or a second communication transmission circuit, wherein the first radio module and the second radio module are selectively controlled in accordance with the received command, and wherein the command specifies that a particular logical channel should be set up, transferred to a different physical link, or cleared;
- and
- a memory for storing the application external to the ad-hoc communication protocol stack of the ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus for the control of the first radio module or of the second radio module.
A method for controlling an ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus, the method comprising:
- generating, by an application external to an ad-hoc communication protocol stack of the ad-hoc communication radio module apparatus, control information including a command, wherein the ad-hoc communication protocol stack includes an application layer and the application runs outside of the application layer;
- transmitting the control information to a controller coupled with an ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface via the ad-hoc communication-protocol-stack-external control interface;
- and
- controlling selectively a first radio module coupled with the controller and a second radio module coupled with the controller based at least in part on the control information, wherein the first radio module includes a first ad-hoc communication reception circuit or a first ad-hoc communication transmission circuit and the second radio module comprises a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer, and a Physical Layer (PHY) having a second communication reception circuit or a second communication transmission circuit.
