Regulate the charging of a mobile device

A system for charging a battery of a first mobile device comprising:

• a second mobile device;
• and
• a connection coupling the first mobile device and the second mobile device, wherein the second mobile device is configured to:
• receive a request initiated by a user, the request being initiated by the user from a computer-program application residing in the second mobile device and identifying an amount of charge to be provided from a battery of the second mobile device to the battery of the first mobile device;
• determine whether the amount of charge to be provided is likely to result in a battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below a threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged based on historical battery charge usage data of the second mobile device over a past period of time;
• advise the user via the computer-program application residing in the second mobile device in response to determining the amount of charge to be provided is likely to result in the battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below the threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged;
• and
• charge the battery of the first mobile device with the amount of charge from the battery of the second mobile device over the connection in response to determining the amount of charge to be provided is not likely to result in the battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below the threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged.

A non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions for charging a battery of a first mobile device, the computer-executable instructions configured when executed to cause a second mobile device to:

• receive a request from initiated by a user, the request identifying an amount of charge to be provided from a battery of the second mobile device to the battery of the first mobile device;
• determine whether the amount of charge to be provided is likely to result in a battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below a threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged based on historical battery charge usage data of the second mobile device over a past period of time;
• advise the user in response to determining the amount of charge to be provided is likely to result in the battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below the threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged;
• and
• charge the battery of the first mobile device with the amount of charge from the battery of the second mobile device over a connection coupling the first mobile device and the second mobile device in response to determining the amount of charge to be provided is not likely to result in the battery charge of the second mobile device dropping below the threshold value before the battery of the second mobile device is recharged.
