A light-emitting component may include: an electrically active region, including: a first electrode; a second electrode; and an organic functional layer structure between the first electrode and the second electrode; and a thermotropic layer, which is arranged outside the electrically active region.

A light-emitting component, comprising:
- an electrically active region, comprising:
- a first electrode;
- a second electrode;
- and
- an organic functional layer structure between the first electrode and the second electrode;
- a thermotropic layer, which is arranged outside the electrically active region;
- a substrate;
- and
- a first cover, wherein the first cover is arranged on the opposite side of the substrate from the electrically active region, wherein the thermotropic layer is arranged between the substrate and the first cover.

A method for producing a light-emitting component, the method comprising:
- forming an electrically active region, comprising:
- forming a first electrode;
- forming a second electrode;
- and
- forming an organic functional layer structure between the first electrode and the second electrode;
- forming a thermotropic layer outside the electrically active region;
- forming a substrate;
- and
- forming a first cover on the opposite side of the substrate from the electrically active region, wherein the thermotropic layer is arranged between the substrate and the first cover.
