Abstract
The invention generally relates to compositions that include sets of magnetic particles, members of each set being conjugated to an antibody specific for a pathogen.
Claims20
A composition for isolating pathogen from a heterogeneous sample, the composition comprising:
- a plurality of sets of magnetic particles, members of different sets being conjugated to different antibodies that are specific for a pathogen, wherein at least two of the sets are at different concentrations;
- and
- a buffer that substantially prevents lysis of blood cells and reduces particle aggregation.
A plurality of magnetic particles within a buffer that substantially prevents lysis of blood cells and reduces particle aggregation, wherein the plurality is differently functionalized so that the plurality of particles bind to a plurality of different pathogens in a heterogeneous sample, wherein at least some of the differently functionalized particles are at different concentrations.
A composition for isolating bacteria from a heterogeneous sample, the composition comprising:
- a plurality of sets of magnetic particles, members of different sets being conjugated to different antibodies that are specific for a bacteria, wherein at least two of the sets are at different concentrations;
- and
- a buffer that substantially prevents lysis of blood cells and reduces particle aggregation.
