System and method for locating fluid leaks at a drape using sensing techniques

A system for determining location of a fluid leak at a drape of a reduced pressure delivery system being used on a tissue site of a patient, said system comprising:

• a processing unit configured to control operation of the reduced pressure delivery system and process image data;
• an input/output (I/O) unit in communication with said processing unit;
• an imaging system including an image sensor for sensing frequencies in a nonvisible spectrum and configured to capture image data based on temperature variations of the drape corresponding to frequency variations in the frequencies sensed by the image sensor, wherein the imaging system is configured to communicate the image data to the I/O unit for processing unit;
• and
• wherein said processing unit is further configured to process the image data by identifying temperature regions based on the temperature variations in the image data and to display the temperature regions by different colors or shadings wherein one or more of the temperature regions are associated with a fluid leak.
