Abstract
An inbred corn line, designated LLH37, the plants and seeds of the inbred corn line LLH37, methods for producing a corn plant, either inbred or hybrid, produced by crossing the inbred corn line LLH37 with itself or with another corn plant, and hybrid corn seeds and plants produced by crossing the inbred line LLH37 with another corn line or plant and to methods for producing a corn plant containing in its genetic material of one or more transgenes and to the transgenic corn plants produced by that method. This invention also relates to inbred corn lines derived from inbred corn line LLH37, to methods for producing other inbred corn lines derived from inbred corn line LLH37 and to the inbred corn lines derived by the use of those methods.
Claims49
Seed of corn inbred line designated LLH37, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9808.
A method for producing a plant of corn inbred line LLH37, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9808, the method comprising:
- planting a collection of seed, wherein the collection of seed comprises seed of a hybrid having a plant of corn inbred line LLH37 as a parent, and wherein the collection of seed also comprises seed of corn inbred line LLH37;
- growing the collection of seed to produce inbred parent plants;
- controlling pollination in a manner that preserves the homozygosity of an inbred parent plant in a resultant seed;
- and
- harvesting the resultant seed.
A method for producing a hybrid corn seed, the method comprising:
- planting in pollinating proximity seeds of inbred corn line LLH37, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9808, and a second, different inbred parent corn plant;
- cultivating the seeds into plants that bear flowers;
- controlling the male fertility of at least one of the plant that bears flowers to produce a male sterile corn plant;
- allowing cross-pollination to occur between the plants that bear flowers;
- and
- harvesting a seed produced on the male sterile corn plant.
A method for producing a LLH37-derived corn plant, the method comprising:
- crossing inbred corn line LLH37, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9808, with a second corn plant to yield progeny corn seed;
- and
- growing the progeny corn seed to yield the LLH37-derived corn plant.
A method for regenerating a corn plant, the method comprising:
- culturing an explant comprising a tissue selected from the group consisting of a tissue obtained from inbred corn plant LLH37, representative seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9808, a tissue obtained from a hybrid corn plant having LLH37 as a parent, and a tissue obtained from a LLH37-derived corn plant;
- and
- initiating regeneration.
