Abstract
An apparatus for transmitting and receiving signals in a wireless telecommunication system and to a method for transmitting random access bursts in such an apparatus. The apparatus includes a transmitter for transmitting random access bursts, a receiver for receiving acknowledgement information confirming a successful transmission of a random access burst, a decision unit for deciding if acknowledgement information has been received, and a control unit for randomly choosing a time point for an attempt to retransmit said random access burst from an interval if no acknowledgement information has been received after a random access burst had been transmitted.
Claims15
An apparatus, comprising:
- a transmitter configured to transmit a service request;
- a receiver configured to receive acknowledgement information confirming a successful transmission of said service request;
- and
- a controller configured to, if no acknowledgement information has been received after said service request has been transmitted, setting an interval for an attempt to retransmit said service request, randomly choose a timepoint from said interval, wherein the controller is configured to set a length of said interval, wherein said interval length is set responsive to a number of unsuccessful service request transmission attempts and a priority class of said service request, said apparatus being a wireless client device,
- said transmitter being configured to retransmit said service request at said timepoint.
A method, the method comprising:
- transmitting a service request, by a mobile station;
- deciding if acknowledgement information confirming a successful transmission of said service request has been received;
- and
- if no acknowledgement information has been received, setting an interval for an attempt to retransmit said service request, randomly choosing a timepoint from said interval, wherein said interval length is set responsive to a number of unsuccessful service request transmission attempts and a priority class of said service request, and retransmitting said service request at said timepoint.
A mobile station, comprising:
- transmitting means for transmitting a service request;
- receiving means for receiving acknowledgement information confirming a successful transmission of said service request;
- and
- control means for, if no acknowledgement information has been received after said service request has been transmitted, setting an interval for an attempt to retransmit said service request, randomly choosing a timepoint from said interval, wherein the control means sets a length of said interval, wherein said interval length is set responsive to a number of unsuccessful service request transmission attempts and a priority class of said service request, wherein said transmitting means is configured to retransmit said service request at said timepoint.
