Abstract
A voltage controlled oscillator includes a resonator and an amplifier. The resonator includes a capacitive element and an inductive element. The inductive element has a plurality of conductive segments forming a physical loop. The inductive element has electrical connections on the physical loop to the plurality of conductive segments forming at least one electrical loop disposed within an interior space formed by the physical loop. The amplifier has an input and an output, the input coupled to a first conductive segment forming a first impedance and the output coupled to a second conductive segment forming a second impedance.
Claims22
A voltage controlled oscillator comprising:
- a resonator having a capacitive element and an inductive element, the inductive element having a plurality of conductive segments forming a physical loop defining an interior, the inductive element having a plurality of electrical connections coupled to a corresponding plurality of inductive loops disposed on the interior of the physical loop;
- and
- a differential amplifier having an input and an output, the input coupled to a first pair of the plurality of conductive segments, forming a first impedance, and the output coupled to at least two of the plurality of inductive loops that are disposed on the interior of the physical loop, forming a second impedance.
A semiconductor manufacturing device, comprising:
- a processor controlled semiconductor manufacturing device;
- a non-transitory memory storage comprising computer instructions and photomask data for making a voltage controlled oscillator;
- and
- one or more processors in communication with the processor controlled semiconductor manufacturing device and to the memory, wherein the one or more processors execute the computer instructions to make a voltage controlled oscillator comprising:
- a resonator having a capacitive element and an inductive element, the inductive element having a plurality of conductive segments forming a physical loop, the inductive element having a plurality of inductive electrical connections disposed in the interior of the physical loop;
- and
- an amplifier having an input and an output, the input coupled to a first conductive segment at a first pair of the plurality of conductive segments, forming a first impedance, and the output coupled to a first pair of the plurality of electrical connections, forming a second impedance.
