Digital link viewer

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
• receive a first user input associated with a request for optical network information associated with an optical route in an optical network;
• receive a second user input that identifies a view type,
• the view type comprising at least one of:
• a data channel view, or
• a control channel view;
• determine, based on receiving the first user input and the second user input, whether the optical network information is stored in a memory associated with the one or more processors;
• selectively obtain the optical network information from a plurality of network entities associated with the optical route when the optical network information is not stored in the memory;
• and
• provide, based on the stored optical network information or the obtained optical network information, via a user interface that displays:
• a representation of the plurality of network entities associated with the optical route,
• a representation of an amplification capability associated with a network entity, of the plurality of network entities,
• a representation of a first parameter associated with the network entity,
• the first parameter being at least one of:
• a gain parameter, or
• an address parameter,
• the representation of the first parameter being based on the second user input,
• a representation of a plurality of optical links, associated with the optical route, that connect the plurality of network entities,
• each of the plurality of optical links indicating an optical transmission direction between two network entities, of the plurality of network entities,
• a representation of a second parameter associated with an optical link, of the plurality of optical links,
• the second parameter including one of:
• a fiber type associated with the optical link,
• a power parameter associated with the optical link, or
• a span loss parameter associated with the optical link,
• the representation of the second parameter being based on the second user input, and
• a plurality of super-channel identifiers representing a plurality of super-channels, each of the plurality of super-channels being transmitted on the optical link, each of the super-channels including a corresponding one of a plurality of groups of channels, and
• a plurality of modulation identifiers, each of which identifying a corresponding modulation of each channel in each of the plurality of groups of channels.

A method, comprising:

• receiving, by a device, first user input associated with a request for optical network information associated with an optical route in an optical network;
• receiving, by the device, second user input that identifies a view type;
• determining, by the device and based on receiving the first user input and the second user input, whether the optical network information associated with the optical route is stored in a memory associated with the device;
• selectively obtaining, by the device, the optical network from a plurality of network entities associated with the optical route when the optical network information is not stored in the memory;
• and
• providing, by the device and based on the stored optical network information or the obtained optical network information, via a user interface that displays:
• a representation of the plurality of network entities associated with the optical route,
• a representation of a first parameter associated with a network entity, of the plurality of network entities,
• the first parameter being at least one of:
• a gain parameter, or
• an address parameter,
• the representation of the first parameter being based on the second user input,
• a representation of a plurality of optical links that connect the plurality of network entities,
• the plurality of optical links indicating an optical transmission direction between two network entities, of the plurality of network entities, and
• the plurality of optical links representing, based on the second user input, one or more of:
• an optical fiber,
• a data channel of an optical fiber, or
• a control channel of an optical fiber,
• a representation of a second parameter associated with an optical link, of the plurality of optical links,
• the second parameter including one of:
• a fiber type associated with the optical link,
• a power parameter associated with the optical link, or
• a span loss parameter associated with the optical link,
• the representation of the second parameter being based on the second user input, and
• a plurality of super-channel identifiers representing a plurality of super-channels, each of the plurality of super-channels being transmitted on the optical link, each of the super-channels including a corresponding one of a plurality of groups of channels, and
• a plurality of modulation identifiers, each of which identifying a corresponding modulation of each channel in each of the plurality of groups of channels.
