An article, comprising:

• a first electrode,
• a second electrode, and
• a photoactive material disposed between the first and second electrodes, the photoactive material comprising a polymer including a first monomer repeat unit, the first monomer repeat unit comprising a benzodithiophene moiety substituted with at least one electron withdrawing group selected from COR, COOR, CO—N(RR′), C1-C20 perfluoroalkyl, or SO3R, in which each of R or R′, independently, is H, C1-C24 alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, C3-C24 cycloalkyl, or C3-C24 heterocycloalkyl;
• wherein the article is configured as a photovoltaic cell.
