Semiconductor radiation detector

An assembly comprising:

• a semiconductor substrate having substantially planar upper and lower opposing surfaces;
• a plurality of first metal layers on the substantially planar upper surface, each first metal layer having edges which are spaced apart from edges of adjacent first metal layers;
• prospective dice lines provided on the semiconductor substrate between the edges of adjacent first metal layers, wherein the prospective dice lines have widths which are less than a distance between the edges of adjacent first metal layers;
• and
• at least one second metal layer on the substantially planar lower surface.

An assembly comprising:

• a semiconductor substrate having substantially planar upper and lower opposing surfaces;
• a plurality of first metal layers on the substantially planar upper surface, each first metal layer having edges which are spaced apart from edges of adjacent first metal layers;
• and
• at least one second metal layer on the substantially planar lower surface, wherein the at least one second metal layer comprises a plurality of second metal layers on the substantially planar upper surface, each second metal layer having edges which are spaced apart from edges of adjacent second metal layers.
