An isolated polynucleotide that encodes an aspartyl-tRNA synthetase (DRS) polypeptide which consists of a sequence that is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:16 or 14, or a fragment of SEQ ID NO:16 or 14 which is 220 or more contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO:16 or 14, wherein the polynucleotide is selected from (a) a cDNA polynucleotide and (b) a modified mRNA polynucleotide.
