Described are transdermal drug delivery systems for the transdermal administration of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol, comprising an acrylic polymer matrix. Methods of making and using such systems also are described.

A transdermal drug delivery system for the transdermal delivery of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol in the form of a flexible finite system for topical application, comprising a polymer matrix consisting of 0.1-3% by weight levonorgestrel, 0.1-5% by weight ethinyl estradiol, 5-20% by weight penetration enhancer, and the balance hydroxy functional acrylic polymer.
A method of preparing a transdermal drug delivery system comprising levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol in the form of a flexible finite system for topical application, comprising preparing a polymer matrix consisting of 0.1-3% by weight levonorgestrel, 0.1-5% by weight ethinyl estradiol, 5-20% by weight penetration enhancer, and the balance hydroxyl functional acrylic polymer.
