Abstract
This disclosure relates to novel morphinan compounds and their derivatives, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, and hydrates thereof. This disclosure also provides compositions comprising a compound of this disclosure and the use of such compositions in methods of treating diseases and conditions that are beneficially treated by administering a σ1 receptor agonist that also has NMDA antagonist activity.

A method for treating a subject suffering from or susceptible to Parkinson's Disease, the method comprising administering to the subject a compound of formula (I):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,
- wherein R1 is selected from CH3, CH2D, CHD2, and CD3;
- and
- R2 is selected from CH3, CH2D, CHD2, and CD3, wherein
- any atom not designated as deuterium in the compound is present at its natural isotopic abundance, and wherein
- when R1 is CH3, then R2 is not CH3.
