Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH448920. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH448920, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH448920 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH448920.
Claims21
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH448920, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV483519 with a second plant of variety I285291, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV483519 and I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12082 and PTA-7994, respectively.
A seed produced by crossing
- (a) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV483519, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety I285291,
- (b) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety I285291, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV483519, or
- (c) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety I285291, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV483519, or a selfed progeny thereof,
- wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a first or second plant further comprising the transgene and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV483519 or corn variety I285291, and wherein representative seed of said varieties CV483519 and I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12082 and PTA-7994, respectively, and wherein the transgene is inherited by the seed.
A seed of the hybrid corn variety CH448920 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein said seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV483519 with a second plant of variety I285291, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV483519 and I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12082 and PTA-7994, respectively, and wherein one or both of the first plant and second plant further comprises the single locus conversion and otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV483519 or corn variety I285291, and wherein a plant grown from said seed comprises a trait conferred by said first single locus conversion and otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of hybrid corn variety CH448920.
A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety CH448920, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least a first heritable trait into at least one inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV483519 and variety I285291 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a first or second plant further comprising the heritable trait, and wherein representative samples of seed of variety CV483519 and variety I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12082 and PTA-7994, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV483519 and I285291 to produce a plant of hybrid corn variety CH448920 further comprising the heritable trait.
A plant of hybrid corn variety CH448920 further comprising a transgene, wherein said plant otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CH448920 listed in Table 1 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
