Component removal systems for portable computers

A component extractor for extracting a component from a housing, the component having a first surface and a second surface that meet at a non-zero angle at an edge of the component, the component extractor comprising:

• a compressible securing portion that secures the first surface of the component to an interior surface of the housing;
• and
• an extracting portion coupled to the compressible securing portion and positioned adjacent the second surface, the extracting portion arranged to receive and transfer an extracting force to the compressible securing portion thereby reducing a thickness of the compressible securing portion and causing detachment of the component from the interior surface of the housing, wherein the component extractor slides across a polymer material positioned over a surface of the edge of the component, wherein the polymer material has a lower coefficient of friction than the surface of the edge.
