Abstract
A cover for a tablet computing device is provided. The cover includes a first panel extending from the first cover segment, a second panel extending from the first panel, and a third panel extending from the second panel. The panels are structured to pivot relative to the adjacent panels. The cover also includes at least a first magnetic component disposed in the first cover segment and a second magnetic component disposed in the third panel. The first panel, second panel, and third panel are each pivotable relative to the first cover segment to form a first stable position and a second stable position.
Claims12
A cover for a tablet computing device comprising:
- a first cover segment including an inner surface and an exterior surface, the first cover segment receiving the tablet computing device with the interior surface and the first cover segment including a first magnetic component;
- a first panel extending from the first cover segment, the first panel structured to pivot relative to the first cover segment;
- a second panel extending from the first panel, the second panel structured to pivot relative to the first panel;
- and
- a third panel extending from the second panel, the third panel being structured to pivot relative to the second panel and including a second magnetic component;
- and
- wherein the first panel, second panel, and third panel are each pivotable relative to the first cover segment to maintain the first magnetic component and the second magnetic component in at least, (i) a first magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a first operable, supported, and partially upright position for the tablet computing device, and (ii) a second magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a second operable, supported, and partially upright position that is different from the first position.
A tablet computing device assembly comprising:
- a first cover segment including an inner surface and an exterior
- surface, the first cover segment receiving the tablet computing device with the interior surface and the first cover segment including a first magnetic component, the inner surface including a recessed region;
- a second cover segment extending from the first cover segment, the second cover segment including (i) a first panel extending from the first cover segment, the first panel structured to pivot relative to the first cover segment, (ii) a second panel extending from the first panel, the second panel structured to pivot relative to the first panel, and (iii) a third panel extending from the second panel, the third panel being structured to pivot relative to the second panel and including a second magnetic component;
- and
- a tablet computing device, wherein a base portion of the tablet computing device is retained in the recessed region of the inner surface, and wherein a display portion of the tablet computing device is dimensioned to rest on the inner surface so that a peripheral thickness of the display portion is exposed;
- wherein the first panel, second panel, and third panel are each pivotable relative to the first cover segment to maintain the first magnetic component and the second magnetic component in at least (i) a first magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a first operable, supported, and partially upright position, and (ii) a second magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a second operable, supported, and partially upright position that is different from the first position.
A cover for a tablet computing device comprising:
- a first cover segment including an inner surface and an exterior surface, the first cover segment receiving the tablet computing device with the interior surface and the first cover segment including a first magnetic component that is positioned to enable a magnetic coupling with another component that is brought into contact with the exterior surface, the inner surface including a recessed region;
- and a second cover segment extending from the first cover segment, the second cover segment including multiple panels, one of which includes a second magnetic component, each of the multiple panels being pivotable relative to the first cover segment to maintain the first magnetic component and the second magnetic component in at least provide, using the first magnetic component, (i) a first magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a first operable, supported, and partially upright position, and (ii) a second magnetic coupling to support the tablet computing device in a second operable, supported, and partially upright position that is different from the first position.
