Printing apparatus and control method therefor

A printer having a full color print process and a monochrome print process, comprising:

• a color and monochrome discrimination unit configured to, when processing print data of a plurality of pages including a page having a color attribute and a page having a monochrome attribute, discriminate whether an attribute of a page included in the plurality of pages is color or monochrome, and
• a print process decision unit configured to decide either the full-color print process or the monochrome print process as a print process for a target page to be printed,
• wherein the print process decision unit decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a color attribute by the color and monochrome discrimination unit,
• wherein the print process decision unit decides the monochrome print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute by the color and monochrome discrimination unit when the color and monochrome discrimination unit has not discriminated an attribute of subsequent page of the target page, and
• wherein the print process decision unit decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute by the color and monochrome discrimination unit when the color and monochrome discrimination unit has discriminated that an attribute of subsequent page of the target page is a color attribute.

A method of controlling a printer having a full color print process and a monochrome print process, comprising:

• a color and monochrome discrimination step of, when processing print data of a plurality of pages including a page having a color attribute and a page having a monochrome attribute, discriminating whether an attribute of a page included in the plurality of pages is color or monochrome, and
• a print process decision step of deciding either the full-color print process or the monochrome print process as a print process for a target page to be printed,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a color attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step, and
• wherein the print process decision step decides the monochrome print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color and monochrome discrimination step has not discriminated an attribute of subsequent page of the target page, and
• wherein the print data of the plurality of pages including the page having the color attribute and the page having the monochrome attribute is printed in an order according to the page numbers included in the print data.

A method of controlling a printer having a full color print process and a monochrome print process, comprising:

• a color and monochrome discrimination step of, when processing print data of a plurality of pages including a page having a color attribute and a page having a monochrome attribute, discriminating whether an attribute of a page included in the plurality of pages is color or monochrome, and
• a print process decision step of deciding either the full-color print process or the monochrome print process as a print process for a target page to be printed,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a color attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the monochrome print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color and monochrome discrimination step has not discriminated an attribute of subsequent page of the target page, and
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color and monochrome discrimination step has discriminated that an attribute of subsequent page of the target page is a color attribute.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method of controlling a printer having a full color print process and a monochrome print process, comprising:

• a color and monochrome discrimination step of, when processing print data of a plurality of pages including a page having a color attribute and a page having a monochrome attribute, discriminating whether an attribute of a page included in the plurality of pages is color or monochrome, and
• a print process decision step of deciding either the full-color print process or the monochrome print process as a print process for a target page to be printed,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a color attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the monochrome print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color/monochrome discrimination step has not discriminated an attribute of subsequent page of the target page, and
• wherein the print data of the plurality of pages including the page having the color attribute and the page having the monochrome attribute is printed in an order according to the page numbers included in the print data.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method of controlling a printer having a full color print process and a monochrome print process, comprising:

• a color and monochrome discrimination step of, when processing print data of a plurality of pages including a page having a color attribute and a page having a monochrome attribute, discriminating whether an attribute of a page included in the plurality of pages is color or monochrome, and
• a print process decision step of deciding either the full-color print process or the monochrome print process as a print process for a target page to be printed,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a color attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step,
• wherein the print process decision step decides the monochrome print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color and monochrome discrimination step has not discriminated an attribute of subsequent page of the target page, and
• wherein the print process decision step decides the full-color print process as the print process for the target page discriminated to be a monochrome attribute in the color and monochrome discrimination step when the color and monochrome discrimination step has discriminated that an attribute of subsequent page of the target page is a color attribute.
