Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a light source;
• a liquid crystal display panel which modulates light emitted from the light source, based on a video signal;
• a wire-grid polarization plate located on at least one of a light-incident side and a light-emission side of the liquid crystal display panel, the wire-grid polarization plate including a base plate and a plurality of wires arranged in stripes on the base plate;
• a projection lens which projects the light modulated by the liquid crystal display panel;
• a cooling part which supplies wind to the liquid crystal display panel and the wire-grid polarization plate to cool them;
• and
• a covering wall which is in contact with only end faces of the plurality of wires at a windward side of the wire-grid polarization plate in a flow direction of the wind supplied from the cooling part, and covers only the end faces of the plurality of wires at the windward side of the wire-grid polarization plate in the flow direction of the wind supplied from the cooling part and ends of a plurality of grooves formed between the plurality of wires for preventing moisture from reaching the grooves.
