The present invention relates to a method for searching a transmitter. Therein, the vectorial magnetic field strengths of the field emitted by the transmitter are detected for at least a first and a second measurement point relative to a reference axis of the detector carried by a searcher. Furthermore, at least one orientation difference (φ2−φ1) between the first and the second measurement point is detected. Based on certain assumptions, the vectorial magnetic field strengths are calculated and subsequently a function (E) of an error vector (g) representing the difference between the calculated and the measured vectorial magnetic field strengths is numerically minimized for determining an updated position vector. Moreover, the invention relates to a corresponding detector.
A method for searching for a transmitter with a detector and a position determining device for determining at least one orientation variation of the detector, the detector comprising at least a first and a second antenna for receiving a transmit signal of the transmitter, wherein the transmit signal includes pulses emitted with a certain transmit pulse period,
