A drill bit for subterranean drilling, having cutters defining a cutter profile extending from a gage region of at least one blade of the drill bit to a center axis of the drill bit and having at least a cone region and a nose region, the cutter profile comprising a concavity in the cone region of the cutter profile radially extending greater than a width of any single cutter defining the cutter profile, wherein all cutters defining the cutter profile are configured to simultaneously engage an earth formation, the drill bit comprising at least one insert in the cone region and rotationally trailing the concavity, the at least one insert sized and shaped to reduce an average exposure of cutters rotationally proceeding the at least one insert relative to the other cutters within the cone region.
