This invention relates generally to compositions comprising noribogaine and an excipient to facilitate transport across the blood brain barrier.
Claims20
A method for treating pain in a patient in need thereof which method comprises administering to said patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
- R is hydrogen, alkyl, —C(O)-alkyl, or the group -L-S where L is a covalent bond or is a biocompatible, cleavable linking group and S is a dehydrating saccharide or oligosaccharide;
- R1 is hydrogen or the group -L-S where L is a covalent bond or is a biocompatible, cleavable linking group and S is a dehydrating saccharide or oligosaccharide;
- provided that at least one of R and R1 is -L-S.

A method for treating addiction in a patient in need thereof which method comprises administering to said patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein
- R is hydrogen, alkyl, —C(O)-alkyl, or the group -L-S where L is a covalent bond or is a biocompatible, cleavable linking group and S is a dehydrating saccharide or oligosaccharide;
- R1 is hydrogen or the group -L-S where L is a covalent bond or is a biocompatible, cleavable linking group and S is a dehydrating saccharide or oligosaccharide;
- provided that at least one of R and R1 is -L-S.
