Abstract
The present invention relates to the discovery that reduced levels of D-dopachrome tautomerase (D-DT) (also known as MIF-2) are associated with ischemia-reperfusion injury. Thus, the present invention relates to methods of administering D-DT and recombinant D-DT for the treatment of ischemia-reperfusion injury.
Claims6
A method of treating or reducing ischemia-reperfusion injury in a subject, or a tissue or an organ thereof, the method comprising:
- administering to the subject, the tissue, or the organ thereof, a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of a D-dopachrome tautomerase (D-DT) polypeptide, and a recombinant D-DT polypeptide.
