Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH812985. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH812985, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH812985 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH812985.
Claims25
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH812985, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV468110 with a second plant of variety I285291, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV468110 and I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-10674 and PTA-7994, respectively.
A seed produced by crossing
- (a) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV468110, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety I285291,
- (b) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety I285291, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV468110, or
- (c) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety 1285291, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV468110, or a selfed progeny thereof,
- wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a first or second plant comprising the transgene and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological traits of variety CV468110 or variety I285291, and wherein representative seed of said varieties CV468110 and I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-10674 and PTA-7994, respectively, and wherein the transgene is inherited by the seed.
A method of producing hybrid corn seed, said method comprising crossing a plant of variety CV468110 with a plant of variety I285291, wherein representative seed of variety CV468110 and variety I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-10674 and PTA-7994, respectively.
A method of introducing a heritable trait into a hybrid corn variety, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least a first heritable trait into at least one inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV468110 and variety I285291 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a first or second plant comprising the heritable trait and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological traits of variety CV468110 or variety I285291 and wherein representative samples of seed of variety CV468110 and variety I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-10674 and PTA-7994, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV468110 and I285291 to produce a plant of a hybrid corn variety comprising the heritable trait.
A plant of hybrid corn variety CH812985, further comprising a transgene, wherein said plant otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CH812985 listed in Table 1 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
A method of introducing a trait into a hybrid corn variety, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing a transgene conferring the trait into a variety selected from the group consisting of CV468110 and I285291 to produce a transgenic plant heritably carrying the trait, wherein said transgenic plant comprises the transgene conferring the trait and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological traits of variety CV468110 or variety I285291 and wherein representative samples of seed of variety CV468110 and variety I285291 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-10674 and PTA-7994, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing the transgenic plant or an isogenic progeny plant thereof with a plant of a different variety selected from the group consisting of CV468110 and I285291 to produce a plant of the hybrid corn variety that comprises the trait.
