Abstract
Apparatus, systems, and methods for providing transmission and localized reception of audio, visual, and tactile signaling are taught for a myriad of useful purposes, including embodiments that permit differentiation between selected groups of intended recipients to permit simultaneous use of multiple instances of this technology in close proximity, if desired.

A system for configurable signaling, the system comprising:
- A. at least one signaling device comprising a first stored communication configuration comprising one or more first configuration elements;
- B. at least one receiving device comprising:
- (i) one or more external stimuli generator(s), and
- (ii) a second stored communication configuration comprising one or more second configuration elements;
- wherein the at least one signaling device is configured to:
- a. receive an activation command;
- b. generate at least one signal comprising all of said one or more first configuration element(s) in said first stored communication configuration in response to said activation command;
- and
- c. transmit said at least one signal;
- and wherein the at least one receiving device is configured to:
- d. receive directly the at least one signal generated by and transmitted by the at least one signaling device;
- e. determine whether said signal comprising all of said one or more first configuration elements comprises at least one configuration element identical to at least one of said one or more second configuration element(s);
- f. activate at least one of said one or more external stimuli generator(s) when at least one of said first configuration elements is identical to at least one of said second configuration elements;
- and
- g. do nothing when none of said first configuration elements are identical to any of said second configuration elements.
A method for sending and receiving signals are controlling by processors, the method comprising:
- A. providing a signaling device comprising a first communication configuration;
- B. providing a receiving device comprising a second communication configuration and one or more external stimuli generator(s);
- C. selecting at the signaling device, by a first user, at least one first configuration element and storing said first configuration element in said first communication configuration;
- D. selecting at the receiving device, by a second user, at least one second configuration element and storing said second configuration element in said second communication configuration;
- E. receiving, by the signaling device, an activation command from the first user;
- F. generating, by the signaling device, a signal comprising the at least one first configuration element;
- G. transmitting, by the signaling device, the signal comprising the at least one first configuration element;
- H. receiving, directly by the receiving device, the signal transmitted by the signaling device;
- I. determining, by the receiving device, whether the signal received from the signaling device comprises one or more of the at least one second configuration element stored in said second communication configuration;
- and
- J. activating, by the receiving device, at least one of the one or more external stimuli generator(s) if the signal transmitted by the signaling device comprises one or more of the at least one second configuration element stored in said second communication configuration.
A system for sending and receiving signals, the system comprising:
- A. one or more signaling device(s), each comprising an activation switch;
- B. one or more receiving device(s), each comprising one or more external stimuli generator(s);
- C. more than one first communication configuration selectable at each of the one or more signaling device(s) and more than one second communication configuration selectable at each of the one or more receiving device(s), each said communication configuration comprising at least one configuration element, and wherein at least a portion of said more than one first communication configurations have at least one configuration element in common with at least a portion of the more than one second communication configurations;
- wherein the system is configured to:
- a. receive and store, at each of the one or more signaling device(s), a first of the more than one communication configuration selected by a signaling device user;
- b. receive and store, at each of the one or more receiving device(s), a second of the more than one communication configuration selected by a receiving device user;
- c. generate one or more signal(s) at each of the one or more signaling device(s) in response to actuation of the respective activation switch(es) in said one or more signaling device(s), wherein said one or more signal(s) comprise all of said at least one configuration element(s) of each of the respective first communication configuration(s) of the one or more signaling device(s);
- d. transmit said signal(s) by said one or more signaling device(s) and receive directly said signal(s) by said one or more receiving device(s);
- e. compare all of the configuration element(s) of said one or more signal(s) to the at least one configuration element of each of said second communication configuration(s) at each respective one or more receiving device(s);
- and
- f. activate any of the one or more external stimuli generator(s) in any of the one or more signal receiving device(s) whenever at least one configuration element of the second communication configuration of said any of the one or more receiving device(s) comprises at least one element in common with at least one configuration element of said communication configuration of said signal(s).
