Abstract
According to one embodiment of the invention, a camera determines whether to acquire an image (e.g., automatically), determines whether to store the acquired image, and determines how to store the acquired image.
Claims36
A digital camera, comprising:
- an input device, the input device configured to receive location information, the location information identifying at least one storage server for storing media content for future retrieval by a user of the digital camera, the media content being at least one of a digital image and a video;
- an imaging device, the imaging device configured to acquire the media content;
- a memory, the memory configured to store the location information and at least one factor;
- a processor, the processor configured to:
- cause acquisition of the media content, by the imaging device, based on at least one pre-established condition irrespective of whether a shutter button of the digital camera is triggered, the at least one pre-established condition being based on movement of the digital camera;
- in response to acquiring the media content, determine whether to transmit the media content to the storage server based at least on whether the at least one factor is met;
- cause transmission of the media content over a network to the at least one storage server if the at least one factor is met;
- and
- cause retention in the memory of a version of the acquired media content after the transmission of the media content to the at least one storage server;
- and
- a transmitter, the transmitter configured to transmit the media content over the network to the at least one storage server.
8 more elements
A method for transferring media content from a digital camera, the method comprising:
- receiving location information, the location information identifying at least one storage server for storing media content for future retrieval by a user of the digital camera, the media content being at least one of a digital image and a video;
- acquiring the media content based on at least one pre-established condition irrespective of whether a shutter button of the digital camera is triggered, the at least one pre-established condition being based on movement of the digital camera;
- storing the location information and at least one factor;
- in response to acquiring the media content, determining whether to transmit the media content to the storage server based at least on whether the at least one factor is met;
- causing transmission of the media content over a network to the at least one storage server if the at least one factor is met;
- retaining a version of the acquired media content in the digital camera after the transmission of the media content to the at least one storage server;
- and transmitting the media content over the network to the at least one storage server.
4 more elements
A digital camera, comprising:
- an input device, the input device configured to receive location information, the location information identifying at least one storage server for storing media content, the media content being at least one of a digital image and a video;
- an imaging device, the imaging device configured to acquire the media content;
- a memory, the memory configured to store the location information and at least one factor, the at least one factor defining a minimum image quality of the media content;
- a processor, the processor configured to:
- cause acquisition of the media content, by the imaging device, based on at least one pre-established condition irrespective of whether a shutter button of the digital camera is triggered, the at least one pre-established condition being based on movement of the digital camera;
- determine an image quality of the media content;
- determine whether the at least one factor is met, the at least one factor being met if the determined image quality of the media content meets the minimum image quality;
- cause transmission of the media content over a network to the at least one storage server if the at least one factor is met;
- and
- cause retention in the memory of a version of the acquired media content after the transmission of the media content to the at least one location;
- and
- a transmitter, the transmitter configured to transmit the media content over the network to the at least one location.
9 more elements
A digital camera, comprising:
- an input device, the input device configured to receive location information, the location information identifying at least one storage server for storing media content, the media content being at least one of a digital image and a video;
- an imaging device, the imaging device configured to acquire the media content;
- a memory, the memory configured to store the location information and at least one factor, the at least one factor indicating a predefined global positioning system (GPS) location;
- a processor, the processor configured to:
- cause acquisition of the media content, by the imaging device, based on at least one pre-established condition irrespective of whether a shutter button of the digital camera is triggered, the at least one pre-established condition being based on movement of the digital camera;
- determine a GPS location of the digital camera;
- determine whether the at least one factor is met, the at least one factor being met if the GPS location of the digital camera is the predefined GPS location;
- cause transmission of the media content over a network to the at least one storage server if the at least one factor is met;
- and
- cause retention in the memory of a version of the acquired media content after the transmission of the media content to the at least one storage server;
- and
- a transmitter, the transmitter configured to transmit the media content over the network to the at least one location.
