Data processing apparatus and method for processing data

A method comprising:

• detecting a touch operation performed on an operation panel that displays a display screen;
• executing an action corresponding to the detected touch operation;
• and
• suppressing execution of the action by the executing in accordance with a type of function being executed in an apparatus and/or the display screen displayed on the operation panel,
• wherein, in a case where a predetermined function is being executed in the apparatus and/or a predetermined display screen is being displayed on the operation panel, the suppressing unit suppresses execution of an action by the execution unit corresponding to a first touch operation of which a time between a touch determination and a release determination is shorter than a predetermined time.

A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an apparatus comprising:

• a detection unit configured to detect a touch operation performed on an operation panel that displays a display screen;
• an execution unit configured to execute an action corresponding to the touch operation detected by the detection unit;
• and
• a suppressing unit configured to suppress execution of the action by the execution unit in accordance with a type of function being executed in the apparatus and/or the display screen displayed on the operation panel,
• wherein, in a case where a predetermined function is being executed in the apparatus and/or a predetermined display screen is being displayed on the operation panel, the suppressing unit suppresses execution of an action by the execution unit corresponding to a first touch operation of which a time between a touch determination and a release determination is shorter than a predetermined time.
