Abstract
A numerical controlled oscillator generating an output signal with a digital clock signal having a variable frequency is disclosed. The numerical oscillator is controlled by a programmable numerical value being subject to a transfer function and comprises a comparator configured to compare an output of the transfer function with a duty cycle register to generate the output signal.

A numerical controlled oscillator generating an output signal with a digital clock signal having a variable frequency, wherein the numerical oscillator is controlled by a programmable numerical value being subject to a transfer function and comprises a comparator configured to compare an output value of the transfer function with an output value of a duty cycle register and to generate the output signal, wherein the output signal has a first logic state when the output value of the transfer function is equal to or greater than the output value of the duty cycle register and otherwise a second logic state.
A method of generating a clock signal, comprising steps of:
- providing an output signal with a digital clock signal having a variable frequency by a numerical controlled oscillator by subjecting a numerical value to a transfer function generating an output value, providing a duty cycle register coupled with a comparator, wherein the comparator compares the output value of the transfer function with an output value of the duty cycle register and generates the output signal, wherein the output signal has a first logic state when the output value of the transfer function, which is a value of an accumulator, is equal to or greater than the output value of the duty cycle register and otherwise a second logic state.
