Abstract
The present invention relates to the NIPA-1 proteins and nucleic acids encoding the NIPA-1 proteins. The present invention further provides assays for the detection of NIPA-1 polymorphisms and mutations associated with disease states, as well as methods of screening for ligands and modulators of NIPA-1 proteins.
Claims5
A method of detecting the presence of a NIPA-1 nucleic acid encoding a T45R NIPA-1 mutation in a sample, comprising:
- (a) contacting a NIPA-1 nucleic acid in a sample under stringent conditions with a detectably labeled oligonucleotide that specifically hybridizes to a NIPA-1 nucleic acid at a sequence comprising a G at a position corresponding to position 134 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and (b) detecting hybridization of the oligonucleotide with the NIPA-1 nucleic acid, wherein detection of hybridization is indicative of the presence of a NIPA-1 nucleic acid encoding a T45R NIPA-1 mutation in the sample.
