Abstract
There is provided a diagnostic reagent for use in the detection of M. bovis or M. tuberculosis infection in an animal, comprising a peptide which has an epitope from Mycobacterium bovis hypothetic protein Mb3645c (SEQ ID NO: 1) or an epitope from a polypeptide having at least 76% identity with SEQ ID NO: 1.
Claims22
A diagnostic reagent for use in the detection of M. tuberculosis infection in a mammal, comprising a peptide which has an epitope from a protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, said epitope consisting of consecutive amino acids from within SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said peptide has fewer than 103 amino acids.
A fusion protein comprising:
- (i) at least one peptide which has an epitope from a protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, said epitope consisting of consecutive amino acids from within SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said peptide has fewer than 103 amino acids;
- and
- (ii) (a) at least one amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS:
- 14 and 16-20;
- or
- (ii) (b) at least one amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS:
- 15 and 21-25.
A diagnostic kit comprising a diagnostic reagent for use in the detection of M. tuberculosis infection in a mammal, comprising:
- (a) a peptide which has an epitope from a protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, said epitope consisting of consecutive amino acids from within SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said peptide has fewer than 103 amino acids;
- and
- (b) means for performing a cell-mediated immunity (CMI) assay in a sample from said mammal.
A synthetic or recombinant peptide of between 8 to 35 amino acids in length, in which said peptide has an epitope from a protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, said epitope consisting of consecutive amino acids from within SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
