Abstract
A universal fitting for in-line fluid measurement in a process application. The fitting including an inlet and outlet port. The fitting also having a body with a fluid flow passage providing fluid communication between the ports. A sensor housing is provided that extends outwardly away from a wall of the body, wherein the housing is sized to receive a sensor assembly, which assembly measures at least one characteristic of the fluid. A base of each housing integrally formed with the wall and including a sensor seat for receiving a portion of the sensor assembly. A probe aperture receives a probe portion of the sensor assembly, each housing having the probe aperture disposed in the wall and extending from the fluid passage through its respective sensor seat.
Claims8
A universal fitting for fluid process application, the fitting comprising a fitting body, at least one sensor assembly for measuring two characteristics of a fluid and a cap for securing the at least sensor assembly to the fitting body,
- the fitting body comprising:
- at least one port for coupling to the process application;
- a fluid flow passage in open communication with the at least one port;
- at least one sensor housing extending outwardly away from a wall of the fluid passage and defining a housing interior for receiving the at least one sensor assembly;
- a sensor seat formed in an outer surface of said fluid passage wall and communicating with the interior of said sensor housing, the sensor seat being formed by a depression in the outer surface of the wall, whereby the wall has a thinner wall thickness at the bottom of the sensor seat;
- and
- at least one probe aperture formed through said wall and extending from the fluid passage to the interior of said housing,
- wherein the at least one sensor assembly includes at least one fluid probe, the at least one sensor assembly being at least partially inserted into the sensor seat, wherein the probe is inserted through the probe aperture to be exposed to the fluid, wherein the at least two characteristics include at least two of fluid pressure, temperature, flow rate, fluid pH, dissolved oxygen, absorption, capacitance, conductivity, fluorescence and turbidity, and
- wherein the cap is sized to matingly secure to the sensor housing to enclose the at least one sensor assembly within the housing interior.
