- adhering a plurality of abrasive particles and a first matrix material to at least a vertical portion of a mold cavity corresponding to at least one of the plurality of ribs;
- loading a plurality of abrasive particles and a second matrix material into a second portion of the mold cavity;
- and
- heating contents of the mold cavity to form an impregnated drill bit.
A method of manufacturing a drill bit including a bit body and a plurality of ribs extending from the bit body, comprising:
- loading a paste comprising a plurality of abrasive particles and a first matrix material in at least a portion of a mold cavity corresponding to a gage portion of at least one of the plurality of ribs;
- loading a plurality of abrasive particles and a second matrix material into a second portion of the mold cavity;
