The present disclosure relates to compounds effective as human protein tyrosine phosphatase beta (HPTP-β) inhibitors thereby regulating angiogenesis. The present disclosure further relates to compositions comprising said human protein tyrosine phosphatase beta (HPTP-β) inhibitors, and to methods for regulating angiogenesis.

A compound having the formula:
- wherein R is a thiazolyl unit having the formula:
- R4 and R6 are each chosen from:
- i) substituted or unsubstituted C1-C6 linear, C3-C6 branched, or C3-C6 cyclic alkyl;
- ii) substituted or unsubstituted phenyl;
- and
- iii) substituted or unsubstituted thiophenyl;
- and
- R2 is C1-C6 linear or C3-C6 branched alkoxy;
- or
- a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
