Abstract
The present invention discloses emulsified wax compositions having a wide range of uses, including as cosmetic, pharmaceutical and agricultural compositions, particularly for improving skin moisture, appearance, and wound healing, for the treatment of inflammation and allergic responses of the skin, and for preservation of agricultural fresh produce. The composition of the invention comprises an aqueous phase and at least one wax at a concentration of at least 5%, at least one fatty acid and at least one basic amino acid or a salt thereof.
Claims21
A composition for administration to a mammalian skin surface comprising an aqueous phase, carnauba wax, at least one fatty acid comprising a chain having from 8 to 18 carbon atoms, lysine or a salt thereof, and a base comprising potassium hydroxide, wherein the carnauba wax concentration is at least 5% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition, the ratio of the at least one fatty acid to carnauba wax is at least 1:3 (w/w) and the ratio of the combined total amount of said carnauba wax and at least one fatty acid to lysine is at least 4:1 (w/w).
