Abstract
A reflection device including a sheet made of a flexible material with at least one surface having reflective properties including a first edge and a second edge on opposite sides of a center line of the sheet where the first edge and the second edge of the sheet are shaped such that the flexible material is formed into a mostly parabolic shape in cross section when bent about a line perpendicular to the center line and the sheet is secured at two points along the center line.
Claims23
A reflection device comprising:
- a sheet made of a flexible material having a surface with reflective properties, a first edge, a second edge, and two sides;
- and
- a first linear support unit and a second linear support unit;
- wherein the first edge is parallel to the second edge
- the first linear support unit is parallel to and spaced a distance from the second linear support unit along a mutually perpendicular line;
- wherein the sheet has a length measured perpendicular to and between the first edge and the second edge, and a width measured between the two sides and perpendicular to the length,
- wherein the length is greater than the distance;
- wherein the width of the sheet varies from the first edge of the sheet to the second edge of the sheet;
- wherein the first edge is coupled to the first linear support unit and the second edge is coupled to the second linear support unit;
- and
- wherein the sheet is suspended freely between the first linear support unit and the second linear support unit and forms under its own weight, into a parabolic shape inclined to receive parallel rays.

A method of producing a reflection device including the steps of:
- obtaining a sheet made of a flexible material having a surface with reflective properties, and a first edge, a second edge, and two sides
- wherein the first edge is parallel to the second edge:
- wherein the sheet has a length measured perpendicular to and between the first edge and the second edge, and a width measured between the two sides and perpendicular to the length;
- shaping the sides of the sheet such that the width of the sheet varies along its length.
- coupling the first edge to the first linear support unit and the second edge to the second linear supports unit
- the first linear support parallel to and spaced a distance from the second linear support along a mutually perpendicular line;
- wherein the distance is less than the length of the sheet, and
- wherein the sheet is suspended freely between the linear support units and forms under its own weight, into a parabolic shape inclined to receive parallel rays.
