Abstract
A composition for a polarizing film, including a polyolefin and a dichroic dye represented by Chemical Formula 1: wherein in Chemical Formula 1, groups and variables are the same as defined in the detailed description.
Claims21
A composition for a polarizing film, comprising
- a polyolefin and
- a dichroic dye represented by Chemical Formula 1:
- wherein, in Chemical Formula 1,
- EWG is a halogen, C(═O)R, C(═O)OR′, a haloalkyl group, C(═O)Cl, CN, SO3R″, or NO2, wherein R, R′, and R″ are a C1 to C30 alkyl group,
- Ar1 is a C6 to C12 arylene group or a C4 to C12 heteroarylene group,
- Ar2 is a C12 to C20 arylene group or a C4 to C20 heteroarylene group,
- R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C30 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 alkenyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 alkynyl group, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C30 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 alkenyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 alkynyl group,
- R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C30 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkoxy group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkylthio group,
- m and n are integers of 1 or 2,
- R1a is hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C30 alkyl group,
- provided that R1, R1a, and R2 are not simultaneously hydrogen,
- provided that a+p, q, and r do not exceed bonding valence of the phenylene group, Ar1 and Ar2, respectively, and
- R5 and R6 are independently hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C10 alkyl group, wherein R5 and R6 are optionally linked to each other to provide a ring.
