Abstract
A capacitor having a dielectric consisting of a glass layer with an alkali metal oxide content of at most 2 wt % and a thickness of at most 50 μm is provided. The capacitor includes at least two metal layers which are separated by the glass layer. The glass layer is preferably produced by a down-draw method or by an overflow down-draw fusion method.
Claims16
A method of producing a capacitor, comprising:
- providing a glass being essentially free of alkali metal oxides;
- drawing said glass into a glass strip having a fire-polished surface with a thickness of at most 50 μm;
- assembling said glass strip with a first metal layer and a second metal layer to form a unit;
- and
- electrically contacting said first and second metal layers.
