A system for storing natural gas comprises a plurality of straight sections of tube. The plurality of straight sections of tube are dense packed. The plurality of straight sections of tube are configured to fill a designated volume.

A system for storing natural gas, comprising:
- a plurality of straight sections of tube, wherein:
- the plurality of straight sections of tube are dense packed;
- the plurality of straight sections of tube are configured to fill a designated volume, and
- the plurality of straight sections of tube are connected using reduced radius tube sections bent into a U-shape, wherein a taper to the reduced radius section from one of the plurality of straight tube sections stays within a predetermined mean curvature bound, wherein the predetermined mean curvature bound comprises a single constant mean curvature curve with mean curvature larger than ½ro, wherein ro is the radius of the plurality of straight sections of tube.

A method for storing natural gas, comprising:
- providing a plurality of straight sections of tube, wherein:
- the plurality of straight sections of tube are dense packed;
- configuring the plurality of straight sections of tube to fill a designated volume,
- and wherein the plurality of straight sections of tube are connected using reduced radius tube sections bent into a U-shape, wherein a taper to the reduced radius section from one of the plurality of straight tube sections stays within a predetermined mean curvature bound, wherein the predetermined mean curvature bound comprises a single constant mean curvature curve with mean curvature larger than ½ro, wherein ro is the radius of the plurality of straight sections of tube.
