Production of articles with varying content of additives

A method for continuously producing a multiplicity of articles comprising at least two different types of articles from a pasty mass, using a device for continuously producing a multiplicity of articles, the device comprising:

• a screw extruder comprising axial regions comprising:
• a feeding unit;
• a processing unit with transporting elements for processing and transporting the mass;
• and
• a mixing unit with mixing elements downstream of the processing unit;
• a metering unit connected by means of at least one switching unit to at least one source of a respective additive, wherein the or each respective switching unit is configured to be switched into a respective switching state;
• and
• a molding unit, provided after the processing unit, with molding elements downstream of the mixing unit, for molding the mass provided with at least one of said additives into individual articles;
• the method having the following steps:
• feeding the mass by the feeding unit into the processing unit;
• transporting and processing the mass through the processing unit;
• metering at least one of said additives by the metering unit into the mass transported through the processing unit;
• mixing said at least one metered-in additive into the mass by the mixing unit;
• molding the mass provided with said at least one additive into individual articles by the molding unit;
• wherein the metering in of said at least one additive takes place in a sequence of metering states comprising at least two different metering states, wherein the metering unit in a respective metering state meters at least one respective additive of said at least one additive into the mass at a respective metering rate;
• wherein a duration of the metering state or a duration of a metering cycle is less than approximately 40 seconds;
• wherein a switching over duration between different metering states is approximately 0.1 s to 1 s.
