Claims21
A single, solid oral pharmaceutical composition comprising an insulin;
- a protease inhibitor;
- and a compound in an effective amount to synergistically increase the bioavailability of said insulin, wherein said protease inhibitor is selected from aprotonin and soy bean trypsin inhibitor (SBTI), and wherein said compound is selected from the group consisting of N-(8-[2-hydroxybenzoyl]amino)caprylate (SNAC), N-(10-[2-hydroxybenzoyl]amino)decanoate (SNAD), a salt of said SNAC or said SNAD, and a combination thereof.
A single oral pharmaceutical composition consisting of insulin;
- a protease inhibitor;
- a compound in an effective amount to synergistically increase the bioavailability of said insulin;
- an agent selected from the group consisting of an omega-3 fatty acid, EDTA or a salt thereof and a combination thereof;
- and optionally a coating that inhibits digestion of said pharmaceutical composition in a stomach of a subject, wherein said protease inhibitor is selected from aprotonin and soy bean trypsin inhibitor (SBTI) and wherein said compound is selected from the group consisting of N-(8-[2-hydroxybenzoyl] amino)caprylate (SNAC), N-(10-[2-hydroxybenzoyl]amino)decanoate (SNAD), a salt of said SNAC or said SNAD, and a combination thereof.
