Abstract
In embodiments of the present disclosure improved capabilities are described for providing efficient delivery of real-time synchronous services over a large area broadband LTE wireless network, where optimization servers utilizing publish-subscribe broker services are provided within the wireless network to reduce the resources required for applications streaming data to a plurality of mobile cellular devices.
Claims22
A system comprising:
- a first cellular LTE base transceiver station having a first RF coverage area and configured for RF communication with at least a first and a second mobile transceiver device in the first RF coverage area, the first cellular LTE base transceiver station being connected to a back haul network;
- and
- a first base station optimization server that is connected to the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and connected to the back haul network in parallel with the first cellular LTE base transceiver station so as to permit a data packet to flow between any of (a) the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and the back haul network without traversing the first base station optimization server, (b) the first base station optimization server and the back haul network without traversing the first cellular LTE base transceiver station, and (c) the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and the first base station optimization server without traversing the back haul network,
- wherein the first base station optimization server is configured to connect to each of the first and the second mobile transceiver devices via a corresponding LTE bearer that is redirected through the first cellular LTE base transceiver station to terminate on the first base station optimization server instead of on the initial termination point of the bearer for each of the first and the second mobile transceiver devices, and
- wherein the first base station optimization server comprises a first publish-subscribe broker communications facility to which each of the first and the second mobile transceiver devices is connected via the corresponding redirected LTE bearer, wherein the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility is connected to at least one other publish-subscribe broker communications facility as part of a publish-subscribe broker network, wherein the publish-subscribe broker network is operable to distribute published data packets having an associated topic to those entities that have subscribed to that topic, and wherein the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility is adapted to route an application data packet stream on behalf of a first application that is connected to a publish-subscribe broker communications facility in the publish-subscribe broker network and which publishes streaming application data, from the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility to the first and the second mobile transceiver devices when both the first and the second mobile transceiver devices subscribe to the streaming application data, such that both the first and the second mobile transceiver devices receive concurrently at least a common portion of the application data packet stream from the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility.

A method comprising:
- providing a first cellular LTE base transceiver station in RF communication with at least a first and a second mobile transceiver device, the first cellular LTE base transceiver station being connected to a back haul network and having a first RF coverage area;
- and
- providing a first base station optimization server that is connected to the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and connected to the back haul network in parallel with the first cellular LTE base transceiver station to permit a data packet to flow between any of (a) the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and the back haul network without traversing the first base station optimization server, (b) the first base station optimization server and the back haul network without traversing the first cellular LTE base transceiver station, and (c) the first cellular LTE base transceiver station and the first base station optimization server without traversing the back haul network, the first base station optimization server being communicatively connected to each of the first and the second mobile transceiver devices via a corresponding LTE bearer that is redirected through the first cellular LTE base transceiver station to terminate on the first base station optimization server instead of on the initial termination point of the bearer for each of the first and the second mobile transceiver devices, and comprising a first publish-subscribe broker communications facility that is connected to at least one other publish-subscribe broker communications facility as part of a publish-subscribe broker network, wherein the publish-subscribe broker network is operable to distribute published data packets having an associated topic to those entities that have subscribed to that topic, and wherein the first and the second mobile transceiver devices are each connected to the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility via the corresponding redirected LTE bearer, and wherein the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility is adapted to route an application data packet stream on behalf of a first application that is connected to a publish-subscriber broker communication facility in the publish-subscribe broker network and which publishes streaming application data, from the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility to the first and the second mobile transceiver devices, wherein the first and second mobile transceiver devices both subscribe to the streaming application data and receive concurrently at least a common portion of the application data packet stream from the first publish-subscribe broker communications facility.
