Method and arrangement in a telecommunications network

A mobile terminal adapted for operation in a wireless communication network, the mobile terminal comprising:

• a radio unit;
• and
• a processing unit;
• wherein the processing unit is configured to:
• detect a transition for the mobile terminal from idle state to connected state;
• and
• transmit mobility information to a base station in the wireless communication network, using the radio unit, in response to or in connection with the detected transition, wherein said mobility information includes at least one of an estimate of a speed for the mobile terminal, or information that can be used to estimate a speed for the mobile terminal, when the mobile terminal is nonstationary;
• wherein the processing unit is further configured to assemble the mobility information by forming a mobility report that includes information identifying last-visited cells for the mobile terminal.

A mobile terminal adapted for operation in a wireless communication network, the mobile terminal comprising:

• a radio unit;
• and
• a processing unit;
• wherein the processing unit is configured to:
• detect a transition for the mobile terminal from idle state to connected state;
• and
• transmit mobility information to a base station in the wireless communication network, using the radio unit, in response to or in connection with the detected transition, wherein said mobility information includes at least one of an estimate of a speed for the mobile terminal, or information that can be used to estimate a speed for the mobile terminal, when the mobile terminal is nonstationary, and wherein said mobility information also includes a list of cells detected, but not visited, by the mobile terminal, and corresponding time stamp information for each cell.
