Multi-protocol deblock engine core system and method

A multi-protocol deblock method comprising:

• receiving input data;
• determining if filtering is required for an edge of a block and if filtering is required also determining filter parameters to be used;
• utilizing a multi-protocol deblocking engine to perform filtering on the input data in accordance with a plurality of protocols to create output reconstructed data, where the filtering is performed in accordance with the following expression:
• FO=(Al0 Al1 . . . ]*[LS0 LS1 . . . ]T+Alx+Aly)>>RS0
• where FO is filter output, Al0, Al1, Alx and Aly are add inputs, LS0 and LS1 are left shift indicators, T is a transpose and RS0 is a right shift indicator;
• and
• forwarding the output reconstructed data to memory.

An encoding system comprising:

• an encoder that encodes video data;
• a reconstruction decoder that creates reconstructed data;
• and
• a deblock engine that deblocks the reconstructed data, including performing filtering on the reconstructed data in accordance with a plurality of protocols utilizing a deblocking hardware core for performing the filtering, where the deblock engine performs filtering in accordance with the following expression:
• FO=(Al0 Al1 . . . ]*[LS0 LS1 . . . ]T+Alx+Aly)>>RS0
• where FO is filter output, Al0, Al1, Alx and Aly are add inputs, LS0 and LS1 are left shift indicators, T is a transpose and RS0 is a right shift indicator.
